  • Why the five perspectives were selected for version 3 of the BABOK® Guide
  • How the five perspectives help you understand the context of your specific project
  • How understanding the perspective will help you identify the tasks and techniques needed for your project

Show Notes

One of the new additions to version 3 of The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) is the section on perspectives.  These perspectives help us to focus on the techniques and tasks applicable to the context of a specific initiative.

Perspectives are used within business analysis work to provide focus to tasks and techniques specific to the context of the initiative. Many initiatives will involve one or more perspectives.  The five Perspectives in the BABOK® Guide are:

  1. The Agile Perspective
  2. The Business Intelligence Perspective
  3. The Information Technology Perspective
  4. The Business Architecture Perspective
  5. The Business Process Management Perspective

Understanding the context of your project or initiative and which perspectives apply will help you narrow down the tasks and techniques to use, which allows you to focus more on better business outcomes.
